At Serenity Roots Furniture we commit to more than just painting furniture. We pride ourselves on the durability and quality of our products, therefore preparation is of the utmost importance to all our of pieces.
Each and every piece is carefully restored including but not limited to: sanding with multiple grades, filling any large cracks or dents and rubbing smooth, removing any chipped, cracked or water damaged veneer, correcting any doors or drawers to run smoothly, and fixing any general damage/ wear and tear to the overall piece.
No two pieces are the same therefore the preparation stage is different for each piece we work on.
Once we have finished prepping a piece we then prime using one of the best and strongest primers available in the professional market. This will prolong the life of any painted furniture.
The primer we use is a shellac based adhesion primer meaning it stops any unsightly resins from knots seeping through the paint, stops any bleed through of old stain or varnish, and will provide the topcoat of paint a surface to bind to so no flaking will occur over time.
Depending on the final colour of the piece, the primer will either be white or a grey.
(Please note a lot of upcycling shops will not take these extra steps prior to painting furniture. The preparation stage is the most important stage of painting furniture to prolong the life of the piece.)
Once all of the above is completed, we then apply two-three coats of a specialised paint available to the professional market.
We adore restyling Vintage & Antique pieces and are proud to offer fine quality furniture for your home.
