Caring for Painted Furniture

Caring for Painted Furniture

Caring for painted furniture is easier than you might expect.

There are a lot of misconceptions about how they are easily damaged and are hard to clean. This alone can put a lot of people off from purchasing painted furniture, but we're hear to tell you this is not true - it's easy. If looked after - your furniture can last for many years as any shop bought piece would.

Whether you're thinking of purchasing painted furniture or have a piece already, but aren't sure how to look after it, we've got all the details and tips below for you:

  •  No harsh chemicals are needed or advised to be used. Most of the time a damp cloth is all you need, but should you need a little more, warm soapy water will do the job (and a gently rub if needed).

  • We recommend the use of soft cloths and sponges, no rough or abrasive materials or scourers.

    • Whilst the paint we use is extremely durable and resistant to a lot of stains and water spills, we know accidents do happen (certainly in our household). We recommend spills are wiped up as soon as seen especially for tough stains such as coffee, red wine etc. as you would any piece of furniture.

    • We advise the use of coasters and mats for placing mugs/glasses and plates to avoid the surface being scratched and felt pads on heavy objects or ornaments.

      • Lastly, if possible, avoid direct sunlight and next to/in front of heat sources (i.e. radiators and fireplaces) as this can cause paint to fade unevenly and react to direct heat depending on the type of paint used.

      There we go, that's it.

We also provide every customer with a small jar of the paint used so if any dents or scratches do occur over the years, they can always be touched up and your piece is as good as new again. A small something you wont receive from a large chain or shop.

All of the above tips are sent to you with your purchase along with the paint but you can always check back here for ease.

We recommend keeping the jar of paint in one of the drawers or cupboards of your purchase, therefore it's always easy to find and you don't have to try and remember the "safe place" it was put.

Please note these care guidelines are for the furniture we sell and may not be applicable to other sellers furniture.
